Baby John – The Kerala Kissinger
Com Baby Hohn was born on 14.9.1920 as the son of Shri. Sebastian John and Smt. Mary John. He was the senior most leader of Kerala Revolutionary Socialist Party (Baby John). Previously he was the General Secretary of the Revolutionary Socialist Party of India.
Entering politics even while being a student, Shri. Baby John took part in the Independence movement, and was arrested several times for this. He was also excommunicated by the Catholic Church for taking part in political activities. Beginning his political career as a member of Congress Party, he later joined RSP and was its founder member.
He was known in Kerala State political circles as “Kerala Kissinger” for his abilities to manage political crisis at times when the state was passing through difficult political phases. Shri Baby John’s legislative career began in early 1950 when he was elected to the Travancore Cochin assembly. He was MLA for 30 years and a misiter for 20 years.
He served as minister handling different portfolios in coalition government lead by the then Chief Minister Shri C Achuta Menon, Shri K Karunakaran, Shri A K Antony, Shri P K Vasudevan and Shri E K Nayanar. He died on 27 January 2008.
