V. K. Vijayan was born in Vadakkan Paravoor on 12 March 1925. He joined the Royal Indian Navy in 1943 and participated in the Second World War. After his return from the service, he participated in the agitations for freedom and was arrested. He was released from jail by Sir C. P. Ramaswamy Ayyer. He was again arrested but later released from jail. Later he worked in the Andaman Nicobar Islands. His team removed dangerous mines planted by Japanese soldiers in Andaman Nicobar Islands. He was the state treasurer of the Freedom Fighters Association in Kerala.
