World Elephant Day is an international annual event observed globally on August 12 to protect and conserve African and Asian elephants Launched in 2012 by filmmaker Patricia Sims and Thailand’s Elephant Reintroduction Foundation, it highlights the urgent threats faced by these gentle giants.
