International Migrants Day is celebrated annually December 18th. The UN declared International Migrants Day as a way to emphasize the need to respect human rights of migrants and to promote international labor standards at the same time condemning racism and intolerance. The UN encourages the improvement of puplic perceptions of migrants and migration.

On 4 December 2000, the General Assembly of the United Nations appointed International Migrants Day, a day to be celebrated annually on December 18.
