Department of Posts has notified the Scholarship Scheme called “Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude and Research in Stamps as a Hobby for students from Class VI to IX having good academic record and pursuing Philately as a hobby for the year 2023-24.

About the scheme

Students from Class-VI to IX having good academic record and pursuing Philately as a hobby will be awarded a scholarship on the basis of a written quiz & Philately Project to be conducted at Circle level. The amount of scholarship per awardee is Rs.6000/- per annum. Ten students from each class will be eligible for the scholarship according to their performance in Stage II/ Level II Project work.

Eligibility Condition

A candidate must be a student [Class-VI to IX] of a recognized school within India

Concerned school should have a Philately Club and the candidate should be a member of the Club.

In case the School Philately Club has not been established, a student having his own Philately Deposit Account will also be considered.

A candidate should have good academic record. At the time of selection for award oo scholarship, the candidate must have scored at least 60% marks or equivalent grade/ grade point in the recent final examination. There will be 5% relaxation for SC/ST.

Selection Process

The selection process will be consisting of two levels

Level-I: Written Quiz- 50 multiple choice questions (MCQ) consisting of questions from the following subjects. Each question will carry one mark. There will be no negative marking. Student of a class will compete with his peers only. Duration of the exam will be of one hour.

Level-2: Philately Project- 40 students [subject to availability] from each standard will be selected for level-II Philately Project competition on the basis of their merit in the level-1 written quiz. The Project should be limited to a maximum of 500 words, contained in 4 to 5 pages. The display of stamps [real or images] should be limited to a maximum of 16 only.

Submission of application: Application for participation in the level-I written exam should be submitted to the Superintendent/ Senior Superintendent of Postal Division, where school of the student is situated, by registered post or speed post. Last date for submission / posting of application is 05th September, 2023. Application posted after 05-09-2023 and applications posted through ordinary post/ private courier or by hand submission will not be entertained.

Last date of posting of application is 02.09.2023
