Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first against New Zealand in the first semifinal of the 2023 ODI World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It is a replay of the first semifinal from the 2019 edition of the tournament.The two teams had also met in the league stage in Dharamsala, which India won by four wickets.
