The Cannanore Philatelic Club has organized a three day philatelic and numismatic exhibition here in Kannur, Kerala from 19-21 – November 2010.

The exhibition, officially called KANPEX-2010 was inaugurated on the 19th of November by Shri. S. S. Thampi, ITS, G.M., BSNL, Kannur. The Club president, Shri. K.V. Mukundan presided over the function and Shri. A.K. Sreedeep welcomed the invitees and guests. Prior to the inauguration, a souvenir commemorating KANPEX 2010 was released by Shri. P.V. Sugunan, Retd. Assistant Post Master General, who handed over the first copy to Shri. Mahesh Chandra Baliga, President, North Malabar Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Rethi Cherumanalil delivered the vote of thanks. Postage stamps, postal stationeries, coins, currencies and related articles were exhibited. Several dealers of philately and numismatic articles were present. The postal department also had a booth to sell postal stationery. On the second day, Shri. P.A. Ravindranath of Kozhikode and Shri. Vishnu Nampoodiri of Vadakara evaluated the philatelic and numismatic exhibits respectively.

The exhibition concluded on the third day, 21 November which was a Sunday. A special function was arranged wherein Shri. M. Mohandass welcomed the gathering. Shri. K.V. Mukundan presided over the function. Shri. K.G. Balakrishnan, Sup. Of Post Offices, Kannur, was the chief guest. Shri C. Jayachandran, President, Kerala handloom Export Organization, gave away the awards to the winners. The vote of thanks was given by the vice-President of the Club, Mr. Tom Vadakkummoola.

A total of 18 and 7 exhibits in the philately and numismatic sections respectively were presented in the exhibition along with 2 invitee frames. There were three exhibits in the junior section.

The Cannanore Philatelic Club, Kannur was established in 1990 to generate, maintain and promote philately and numismatics in the region.

The CPC members meet at 3 p.m. on the last Sunday of every month at the Head Post Office, Kannur.
