Oscar Journey of India – Nattu Nattu and The Elephant Whisperers
Department of Posts has always been instrumental to commemorate important events and achievements of our country in various disciplines through release of stamps and special covers.
The journey of Indian Cinema at the world platform of Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, started in the year of 1957 and still continues with the bagging of two awards in the category of best original song- “Naatu Naatu” from the movie RRR and Best Documentary (Short Subject)- “The Elephant Whisperers” in the year 2023.
Department of Posts, West Bengal Circle commemorated the achievement of Indian Cinema in Oscar Awards by releasing a special philatelic cover on “Oscar Journey of India- Celebrating Indian Cinema” at the historical Kolkata GPO.
The special cover has been released by Mr. Vidhan Chandra Roy, Chief Post Master General, West Bengal Circle in the presence of Mr.i Anil Kumar, Hon’ble Post Master General, Kolkata Region and other eminent dignitaries.
“’Philatelic tribute to India’s Oscar Journey’ on winning two Academy Awards at the 95th Academy Awards this year on 23.03.2023 at the historic Kolkata GPO. “Come dance with “Nattu Nattu” and understand the “Whisper of the Elephants” philatelically,”said Mr. Vidhan Chandra Roy.
