Special Cover on Diamond Jubilee of Coir Board

Coir Board is a statutory body established by the Government of India under a legislation enacted by the Parliament namely Coir Industry Act 1953 (45 of 1953) for the promotion and development of Coir Industry in India as a whole. The role of coir in the Indian culture is more pronounced as the industry is supporting lakhs of people, predominantly women mostly from the impoverished coastal belt. Coir Board is steering the Indian coir industry for the last six decades through its ups and downs to a fully modernized industry having a number of novel products with versatility in applications.

In commemoration of the 60 years of untiring efforts of the Coir Board rendered for the coir industry in India, the Department of Posts issued the Special Cover in connection with the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations on 19th June 2014 at Kochi. (Special Cover approval no. KL/10/2014)
