The two-day WokhaPlex-2023, the first-ever district level philatelic exhibition organized in Wokha district by the department of Posts, Nagaland Division consisting of philatelic exhibition, stamp design contest, and letter writing competition concluded with a short closing function here at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS) Wokha , on 01st & 2nd september-2023.

DBHSS Wokha rector Fr. CT Varghese, who was the guest of honour, expressed gratitude to the postal department for organizing the philatelic exhibition in Wokha district.

Reminiscing on the times when letters, telegrams and trunk calls were the only mode of communication available to the people, he said the postal department had been doing yeoman service to society since then and was still continuing with their services at this particular juncture in history when the postal department itself was in transition stage.

Philatelic exhibition underway in Wokha 768x431 1Dimapur Postal Sub-division inspector L Imtikumzak announced the winners in the various categories of the competition. Gold, silver and bronze medal winners were awarded medals, certificates and cash prizes of Rs.5000, Rs.3000, and Rs.2000 each respectively, while consolation prize winners were awarded certificates. The prizes were handed over to the winners by Nagaland Postal Division superintendent of posts L Tiken Singh, DBHSS Wokha rector Fr. CT Varghese and DBHSS Wokha principal Fr. TC Joseph.

The jury for adjudicating the winners was headed by L Tiken Singh with Silchar Department of Posts and Civil Wing assistant engineer Er. Suman Deb, an avid philatelist himself, as member besides others.

WokhaPlex 2023In exhibition of philatelic collections, Ovungbeni M Ngullie (Class 6, DBHSS) bagged the gold medal, silver medal by Victor Vanthungo A Patton (Class 9, DBHSS) and bronze medal by Mhachio B Ezung (Class 10, Fernbrook School), while Epibeni M Kikon (Class 9, Isaiah Ability School), Jewing Khiam, (Class 9, Isaiah Ability School), Lochumbeni Irina Tungoe (Class 8, Perennial School), Noyingchani J Kikon (Class 9, Perennial School), and Mharhoni K Kikon (Class 9 Fernbrook School) bagged the consolation prizes.

In the letter writing competition (envelope category), in Group A (Class 8 and below), Nogothung Mozhui (Class 8, Bethsaida School) bagged the gold medal, Liwoni Kyong Khuvung (Class 8, Fernbrook School) the silver medal, and Mhachoni Tsanglao (Class 7, DEF Wokha Regimental School) the bronze medal. In Group B (Class 9 and above), Yantsurhoni Lotha (Class 10, Perennial School) bagged the gold medal, Chanjamo J Ngullie (Class 9, Fernbrook School) the silver medal, and Benroni Odyuo (Class 9, Perennial School) the bronze medal. Consolation prizes were awarded to Imkongnukshi Ozukum (Class 7, Isaiah Ability School), Mhavungi Ovung (Class 10, DBHSS), Loyibeni M Patton (Class 10, GHSS), Elliza L Murry (Class 10, St Peter’s School), and Yanthungbeni (Class 10, Little Angels School).

In the letter writing competition (inland letter category), in Group A (Class 8 and below), Chonbeni Z Ezung (Class 7, Fernbrook School) bagged the gold medal, Nzanti M Kikon (Class 7, Perennial School) the silver medal, and Senchumrhoni Kikon (Class 7, Bethsaida School) the bronze medal. In Group B (Class 9 and above), Mhonlumi M Paton (Class 9, Fernbrook School) bagged the gold medal, Meriyani C Yanthan (Class 9, Isaiah Ability School) bagged the silver medal, and Thungchano Ezung (Class 10, DBHSS) the bronze medal. Consolation prizes were awarded to Jessica L Shitiri (Class 10, Springdale School), Nzanjan L Yanthan (Class 10, Isaiah Ability School), Orenthung P Shitiri (Class 10, Bethsaida School), and Khumjano Ngullie (Class 10, DBHSS).

In the stamp design contest, in Group A (Class 7 and below), Ejonshan N Odyuo (Class 7, DBHSS) bagged the gold medal, Ekonbeni Kikon (Class 7, Fernbrook School) the silver medal, Kumzani Tungoe (Class 7, DBHSS) the bronze medal. In Group B (Class 8-10), Ayimong E Yanthan (Class 9, Fernbrook School) bagged the gold medal, Sochumlo Yanthan (Class 10, Perennial School) the silver medal, and Amongsen Yanthan (Class 9, DBHSS) the bronze medal. Consolation prizes were awarded to Zuchamo C Murry (Class 10, DBHSS), Mhashon N Murry (Class 7, Perennial School), Yealik Konyak (Class 11, GHSS), Oponthung S Kithan (Class 11, Isaiah Ability School), and Ruth Odyuo (Class 9, Christian Model High School)

Mementos were also awarded to invitee participants including Inalo Zhimomi, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, Kholie S Dolf, John Angami, and Er. Suman Deb.Kohima Divisional Office marketing executive Sharon Losu proposed the vote of thanks at the closing function of WokhaPlex-2023 which was hosted by Kohima Head Post Office system administrator Daniel Domeh.
