Zimbabwe launches new Covid-19 awareness postage stamp

Zimbabwe issued a Souvenir Sheet on Combat Corona Campaign and COVID-19 Awareness on 31 Mar 2021. The sheet contains four No Face Value stamps Z+A+R+E.

Corporates have taken the Covid-19 awareness campaign to a global scale, with Zimpost and the Ministry of Health and Child Care launching a Covid-19 stamp for domestic, regional and international postage.

Officially unveiling the Covid-19 special stamp in Harare this Wednesday, Vice President General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga who is also the Minster of Health and child care applauded the initiative which comes at a time government has intensified the implementation of Covid-19 prevention and control activities.

“The stamp will carry the message everywhere where the letter goes and will play a pivotal role in the provision of information on the pandemic.

“I am pleased to see the well-timed release of the Covid-19 awareness stamps which raise awareness on vaccinations and other preventive measures.

“The reduction and final eradication of Covid-19 cases in Zimbabwe is anchored on the uptake of the vaccine among other preventive measures,” the vice President said.

The Minister of Information, Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere, who was accompanied by some members of the Zimpost board acknowledged the role being played by the entity in information dissemination.

“It is clear that Zimpost is bridging the gap between the haves and the haves not. The issuance of this stamp will go a long way in conscientising the public about the virus,” he said. The stamp, which gets into circulation with immediate effect, comes in various sets for domestic mail, the rest of Africa and Europe.
