Palakkadan Banana Chips One District One Product jpgPalakkad district in Kerala State, especially Alathur area is famous for chips made of tender Banana, fried in natural coconut oil and it is being exported to various parts of the world. Govt. Of India,  Ministry of Food processing Industries has declared Banana based products as the approved product of Palakkad district under ‘One District One Product’ scheme of Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro  Food Processing Enterprises. As a part of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abjitan project, Dept of post, Kerala postal Circle proudly  released a special cover to honour all those who relentlessly work for the promotion and marketing of the product.

Palakkadan Banana Chips - One District One ProductPalakkad, once known as Palghat, is the fourth largest city in the Indian state of Kerala and is situated on the banks of the Bharathappuzha river. Palakkad is famous for the ancient Palakkad Fort, which is also known as the Tipu Sultan fort. Palakkad was once ruled by the Palakkad Rajas, the Zamorin of Calicut, Hyder Ali and the British before becoming part of the Indian union in 1947. Palakkad is also famous for its snacks that are specially cooked in coconut oil, a specialty of the Kerala Cuisine.
