St. Joseph Church Kuriachira is situated 3 km south of Swaraj Round in Thrissur district of Kerala on the way to Ollur. It was opened in 1931. This is a unique church as it is circular in shape and has no pillars supporting its roof.
 
The church which has the patronage of 1700 families of the area celebrated its 90th anniversary on January 30th 2022. It comes under Archdiocese of Thrissur, under Forane of Our Lady of Dolours’ Basilica. As per the will of one Kattukaran W Joseph the father of one Varu states that he donated the land for the construction of the church. It also states that he donated money for construction of the church and entrusted the responsibility for overseeing the project to his son Varu. The land was transferred to Thrissur Bishop N V D Promisco. When the funds ran short Varu used his personal funds to construct the church.
 
The special cover issued on the occasion of the 90 years celebration features a colour image of the church building against the background of sky and an image of St. Joseph statue. It also carries the 90th year celebration logo and the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav logo. The special pictorial cancellation is a line graphic sketch of the church building and the numeral 90. The stamp is of Mercury issued in 2018. This special cover issued on 07th January-2022( KL/01/2022).
