Ernakulam branch of The Institute of Chartered accountants of India (ICAI) was established on 1st December 1967. Then named as Kerala Branch, has grown from about 100 members to more than 2300 Chartered accountants and 8000 C A Students and is now the largest branch in Kerala and 3rd largest branch in South India.  The branch and its student’s wing named SICASA have achieved All India Best Branch of ICAI Award several times during its 50 years of existence.  The institute is engaged in imparting education and training to the students conducts examinations for them and grants membership to successful candidates.

The Board of Studies is a wing of ICAI. The BOS imparts theoretical educations and training to CA students. They ensure highest quality and consistency by providing education material and other academic inputs from time to time. Board of studies not only looks into development of professional knowledge and skills but also inculcates professional values and ethics and attitudes.  The board of studies also organises seminars conferences national conventions etc for the CA students to update their knowledge in different professional subjects.

The special cover issued on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the SIRC features a colour image of the branch building, the logos of the associations and Golden Jubilee.  The special pictorial cancellation is a line graphic sketch of the logos of the association.
